David was born in Grand Chain ILL. He died in Christopher ILL of heart failure. He married Virginia White of Olmstead ILL. David said he would walk the railroad tracks from Grand Chain to Olmstead to visit her. They lived in Johnston City where David was a miner. They raised their only child there. Many years later they moved to Christopher so David could work in the Coello mine. In 1943 they bought 10 acres on the edge of town. They had hogs and chickens. David had big gardens. David and Virginia were members of the United Methodist Church in Christopher.
