John G. Adicks

John G. Adicks, age 90, of Gainesville, Florida passed away on November 25, 2016 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville.

John was a native of Jasper, Florida and graduated from Jasper High School. He entered the U.S. Army Air Force and served his country during World War II. After serving in the Air Force, he graduated from the University of Florida and became an FDIC bank examiner. He then became a banker at The First Commercial Bank of Live Oak where he resided for 13 years. While there he was president of Kiwanis, member of other civic organizations and was a deacon at the First Presbyterian Church.

In 1970 he moved to Gainesville, Florida to establish the Peoples Bank which is now Bank of America. He was a member of Rotary Club, Gainesville Golf and Country Club and Turkey Creek Country Club. An avid Gator fan, he held a membership in the Gator Boosters Club. He was an honorary member of the College of Business Fraternity. John was an active member of Westside Baptist Church in Gainesville.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn Deas Adicks in June of 2016, his parents, Eugene N. and Kate Lee Adicks and two brothers, Billy and Eugene N. Adicks, Jr.

Survivors include his son, John Deas Adicks and wife, Jeanette of Gainesville, FL.; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Stephen Adicks and one great grandson.

The family will receive friends at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home on Tuesday between the hours of 1:00-2:00 p.m.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, Florida.
