Persa, was the first born of a litter of thirteen, on a very cold and raining evening; his mother, Mollie, didn't even open his sack. She just left him; to continue having the rest of her litter. As I realized what was going on, I contacted a neighbor to watch my young sons, so I could bring mother and puppies into the house. After opening his sack and seeing he was still alive, I put him under my shirt and returned with Mollie to the house. Opening the oven to put heat into the kitchen I tried to give Persa to his mother, again rejected. I went back outside to pick up the other two puppies, again returning to house. I laid all three next to her, and she pushed him [Persa] off to side. I continued to keep him warm in a towel on the oven door, returning him each time she delivered another pup....finally after the tenth one she accepted him. All thirteen lived and flurished. Persa, was the last to open his eyes and the last to be weened. We were lucky to find good homes for all; except, oldest son was adimit about keeping one. The one he named Persa. So along with Mollie, his mom, he roamed our back yard. He was well known in the neighborhood, for his loud bark and his protectiveness of my sons. Best watch dog any family would want, except...that is all he was watch and bark. He lived a very long life for a mutt dog and none will ever take his place.
