Obituary for Vernon D. Rosendale

Mr. Vernon Rosendale, age 84, of Granville, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016, at the Orange City Area Health System.

There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, November 30, at 11:00am, at the Archer Reformed Church. Interment will be prior to the service at the Hospers Cemetery near Hospers. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, from 10:00am until the service time, at the CHURCH.

Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hospers.

Vernon Dean was born on October 28, 1932, in Littleton, Colorado, the son of Monte and Alice (Vander Riet) Rosendale. He was raised at Littleton and attended school in Castle Rock, Colorado. He served in the United States Air Force.

On July 10, 1953, he married Margaret Tiemens in Denver, Colorado. He operated heavy equipment and was a demonstrator for the Caterpillar Company. In 2000, they moved to Granville.

Mr. Rosendale was a member of the Archer Reformed Church and a former member of the Hillcrest Christian Reformed Church in Denver.

He enjoyed hunting, camping, working on tractors, dog sitting, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of more than 63 years; three daughters and their husbands and five grandchildren Trudy and Bernard Bolt, of Overland Park, Kansas, and Tara Bolt; Carolyn and Paul Davenport, of Granville, and John (Emilie) Davenport; and Nancy and Stan Hoogland, of Granville, and Darren (Debra) Hoogland, Cory (Dr. Ashley) Hoogland, and KayLynn (Elmer) Rolfes; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Edwin Rosendale; and four sisters, Bertie Leensvart, Lorraine Alsum, Jean Te Brink, and Louise Westra.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Jeremy Davenport and Nathan Hoogland; two brothers, Donald Rosendale and Robert Rosendale; and three sisters, Dorothy Dykstra, Mary Etta Van Iwaarden, and Evelyn Ockers.
