William R. "Bill" Blackburn, age 86, of Mason, Ohio passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Hospice of Cincinnati-Blue Ash. Bill was born Thursday, October 9, 1930 in Dayton, Ohio to Harry and Thora (nee Duck) Blackburn.
William served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was president of Process Automation Corporation in Cincinnati. Bill was an avid golfer, cribbage and chess player. He ran two golf leagues in Cincinnati for over 30 years. Any activity, whether outdoors or simply sitting inside, that was done with his family brought a wink of his eye and an award winning smile to his face.
Bill was preceded in death by: his parents, Harry and Thora Blackburn; sister, Ruth Blackburn and daughter, Sandra Potts.
Bill is survived by: his wife of 55 years, Helen (nee Short) Blackburn; daughter, Denise (Marie) Blackburn; son, William E. "Bill" (Teresa) Blackburn; siblings, Harry Blackburn and James (Judy) Blackburn and brother-in-law, Roy Edwards; grandchildren, Rachel Potts, Amanda Potts, William K. Blackburn and Taylor Blackburn; great-grandson, Eli Potts; and many other loving family members and friends.
A Remembrance Gathering will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Walden Ponds Golf Club, 6090 Golf Club Lane, Hamilton, Ohio 45011.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Youth Golf Foundation of the Southern Ohio PGA. Make checks payable to: SOPGA REACH, 66 S. Central Ave, Fairborn, OH 45324 in memory of William R. Blackburn
