Born: In Newton, N.J. Personal: He and his wife, the former Beverly Henderson, were married 52 years. He had lived in Gladstone, N.J. before moving to Far Hills 17 years ago.
He was employed as a maintenance worker for the Somerset County Park Commission in Bridgewater, N.J. and at the stables in Basking Ridge, N.J. for 18 years, retiring in 2001.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War having served from 1952 to 1954. Memberships: He was a member of the Gladstone United Methodist Church. He was an exempt member of the Peapack Gladstone Fire Company, a member of the New Jersey State Firemens Association and the Somerset County Firemens Association. He was also a volunteer at Holy Manor Nursing Home in Mendham, N.J. in the recreation department.
Survivors: his wife; a daughter, Linda M. Monk and her husband, Jim, of High Bridge, N.J.; five grandchildren, Eric Monk and his wife, Tasha, Shawn Monk and his wife, Colleen, Jessie Madron and her husband, Marc, Jamie Monk and Crystal Monk; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Irving L. of Hammondsport, N.Y. and Arthur T. of High Bridge, N.J.; and three sisters, Ruth E. Reigle of China Lake, Maine, Edna L. Waite of Lafayette, N.Y. and Eileen C. Lawlee of Neshanic, N.J. He was predeceased by two brothers, Clifford in 1957 and Warren in 1995, and a sister, Helen Henderson in 1999.
Services: Memorial Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2005, in the Gladstone United Methodist Church. Visiting hours will be held 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster, N.J. Memorials: Contributions may be made to the Peapack Gladstone Fire Company, P.O.
