Lillian was born on the family farm August 23, 1920, in Nicollet County to Sven & Borghild (Syverson) Redning. She was raised on the farm and attended country school near St. Peter. Lillian and her family moved near Osakis when Lillian was eight and she continued to attend country school. After high school Lillian went to work for the neighbors in the area taking care of children and doing housework. On November 17, 1938, Lillian married Selmer (Sam) Lennes is Osakis. In 1951, they moved to a farm near Clarissa. Lillian and Sam worked the farm together until his death in 1990.
Lillian worked for many years as a home health aide before retiring in 1994. She lived at home on the farm until this last April. Lillian enjoyed sewing, quilting, making clothing, playing cards and especially visiting. She liked to keep in touch with friends and family and considered many of her close friends family. Lillian was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Clarissa and the Ladies Aid.
