Matthys is covered by Hoffman in "Brouwer Beginnings" (TAG 23:202-203). He and his family apparently first lived in Kings County on Long Island, but then moved, probably in the first or second decade of the 1700's to the "Highlands on the Hudson" which today would be a location in Westchester Co., New York. Their son Samuel's children were being baptized at the Old Dutch Church at Sleepy Hollow (Tarrytown, Westchester County) starting as early as 1699. Matthys and his wife Marietje became members there in 1716. The Brouwers found in the Church records of the Sleepy Hollow Church, throughout the 1700's are descendants of Matthys Brouwer. From:
