John M. Godsell, 86, died at 12:33 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 1970 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bloomington. He had been hospitalized since June 18 and in ill health since January.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Stensel Funeral Home, with Rev. Jack Christian officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

John (Jack) was the son of John M. and Cynthia Ann Craig Godsell. He married Nadine Seniff December 28, 1908 at LeRoy, Illinois. Nadine died April 11, 1950. Following her death he married Mrs. Bessie Brittin on October 10, 1953 at LeRoy, Illinois. She died July 29, 1970.

Survivors are two sons: Ned Godsell of Hudson; Jack E. Godsell of LeRoy; two daughters: Mrs. Lucile Monical of Bellflower; Mrs. Martha Anne Henson of LeRoy; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Lillian Everett of LeRoy; one sister, Miss Minah Godsell of LeRoy; four grandchildren, Jack Lee Godsell of Bloomington, Janet Godsell Percy of Bloomington, Dennis Henson of LeRoy and Patricia Henson Williamson of Normal, Illinois.

Two sons, a daughter, a stepdaughter, two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

John was a member of the LeRoy Methodist Church. He was a retired carpenter and contractor.
