Eligah Rogers, 70, R.R.3, North Vernon, Ind., died at 8:05 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 1991, at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born Oct. 5, 1921, in North Vernon, Ind., the son of Vinson and Grace Kelly Rogers. He farmed for 29 years and retired in 1976. He was a bus driver for Jennings County School Corporation for 32 years. He was Township Trustee for Columbia Township for eight years and had worked for the North Vernon ASC office for 10 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

On July 11, 1942, he married Margie Marie Carnes in Columbus, Ind., and she survives; with one son, Robert Eligah Rogers, Sardinia; one daughter, Sharon Marie Shaffer, R.R.3, North Vernon, Ind.; three sisters, Mary Alice Forrester and Alberta Allman, both of Anderson, Ind., Clydia Buck, Alexandria, Ind.; one brother, Vinson Rogers Jr., Oklahoma; and five grandsons.

One brother, Arley Rogers and one granddaughter, Teresa Dawn Rogers, preceded him in death.

The Rev. Connie Barr will conduct the services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bass and Gasper Funeral Home in Westport.

Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2021 of North Vernon, will conduct military graveside services.
