NICHOLAS GANTNER DIES AT AGE OF 80

Nicholas Gantner, 80, of 323 Portland Avenue, a retired employee of the Karr Range Company, died at 12:50 o'clock Saturday afternoon in Rest Haven Nursing Home, 4400 North Belt Line West, following an extended illness.

Mr. Gantner was born in Paderborn, August 26, 1871, and was a son of the late Victor and Caroline Gantner, nee Sattler. He married Barbara Bost in Boulder City, Colo., in 1900.

Besides his widow, he leaves four children: Henry Gantner of 707 West Monroe Street, Richard Gantner, at home, Florence, wife of Jacob Wimmer of Chicago, and George Gantner of Belleville; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild, and three sisters: Emma, wife of Joseph B. Herman, a retired printer of 500 South High Street, Mrs. Elizabeth Schlegel, 215 Abend Street, and Mrs. Lena Pilkington of Beckley, W. Va. A brother and a sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.. from the Pete Gaerdner funeral home, Rev. Robert Herman officiating, with burial in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
