Clarence Mitchell “Mick” VanHoose, 44, died Saturday, March 16 in Delbarton, WV of an apparent heart attack. Born at Tutor Key on September 20, 1923, he was the son of Virgie Stapleton VanHoose and the late Rascus VanHoose. He was a construction worker and lived at Paintsville at the time of his death. Survivors, including his mother, are three sons, Robert M., Wade M. and Berry of Paintsville, two daughters, Mrs. Karen Hackworth of Columbus, OH and Emma Gail VanHoose of Paintsville and one grandson. Additional survivors include five brothers and sisters, Marion VanHoose of Twilight, WV, Earl VanHoose of Columbus, OH, Carl T. VanHoose of Decatur, TN, Blanche Meade of Paintsville and Elizabeth Haney of Columbus, OH. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 19 in the Mouth of Rush Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Claude Preston officiating. Burial followed in the VanHoose Cemetery at Baker Branch under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home.
