Lieut. Commander Turnbull.
Lieut. Commander Frank Turnbull, a retired officer of the United States Navy, died yesterday of pneumonia at his home in Morristown, N.J. He was born in Washington, D.C., and entered the Naval Academy from New Mexico as an acting Midshipman in 1861. After serving as Midshipman in the Washington Navy Yard and Potomac flotilla in 1862, he returned to Annapolis the next year, and after completing his duties there he was attached to the Pacific Station three years. Having been promoted through the various grades, he was retired as a Lieutenant Commander in June, 1877. During the Spanish-American war, he acted as senior member of the Board of Inspection at the New York Navy Yard. He was a member of the Union and New York Yacht Clubs of this city and of the Morristown Club and Morris County Golf Club. He was also a Director in the First National Bank.
In 1877 he married Mrs. Edwin Lord, who was Miss Marion Bates. She died in 1898.
