In later life she and Nephew David Coutts,lived first at 603 Winchester Av, New Haven and then Norwood Rd, in Hamden. She worked as a Timekeeper at Winchester Repeating Arms Co. She got her Driver's license in 1957. after taking the test 13 times. She bought a 1957 Dodge (swept wing) and drove it while looking through the steering wheel because she was short.
