Centerville, Utah - Our beautiful loving mother (mama), grandma, great-grandma, aunt and friend, Martha Reneer Tingey, age 94, passed away peacefully in Bountiful, Utah.

Martha, the youngest of five children, was born May 28, 1922 in Thatcher, Arizona, to Owsley Albert and Luella Layton Reneer.

Martha spent her childhood in Arizona, but later moved with her family to Kaysville, Utah in 1925. She attended Davis High School and graduated with the class of 1940. She was president of the Pro-Schola (pep club) where she made many wonderful friends whom she loved and cherished throughout her life. All these friends got together often in what became known as “The Club.” She remained a loyal fan and supporter of Davis High School and could always be heard singing the school song every time the band performed at a parade in Davis County.

She married Ralph J. Tingey on June 23, 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They built a home in Centerville and raised their five children: Ken, Barbara, Jeff, Brad and Ted.

Martha was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different callings in her LDS ward. She was always willing to help out when asked to do so.

Mom was very creative, especially with her hands, when it came to crafts and decorating. She loved decorating at weddings, family parties, all the holidays, especially Christmas, and helping others brighten up their homes with homemade crafts and floral arrangements. She could make dead roses come to life.

Mom loved watching her children participate in various activities and events. She also enjoyed the company of listening to Jeff and Brad play the organ and piano. She was very proud of her children’s musical accomplishments. She loved music and never missed an episode of the “Lawrence Welk Show.”

She worked at Elsie’s Hobby and Floral Shop for many years as well as at J & L Garden Center. She loved all types of desserts, especially ice cream, and never passed up the opportunity to enjoy something sweet.

Martha is survived by her children: Ken (Colleen) Tingey, of Bountiful, Barb Tingey, of Centerville, Jeff Tingey, of Salt Lake City, Brad Tingey, of NY, and Ted (Michelle) Tingey, of Bountiful; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph; and four siblings: Leamon, Ebon, Elmo and Lillian; along with one stepsister, Grace Tingey.

The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Place Assisted Living in Bountiful, along with Comfort Worx Hospice, for taking good care of Mom during her most difficult time. They made sure she got the care and assistance needed to keep her happy. Because: “If mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.”

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 19, 2016 at Centerville 5th Ward, 270 North 300 East. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful and Monday morning 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.

Interment-Centerville City Cemetery.
