BONNER – Darrell D. Cambridge passed away quietly Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014. Born in a farmhouse outside of Gaylord, Kansas, to Leo and Florence Cambridge on Nov. 19, 1933, Darrell spent much of his youth in rural Idaho and Wyoming before enlisting in the Air Force in 1951. Darrell served as a flight engineer on the C-46 and DC-3 during the Korean War, flying many missions over North Korea in 1952 and 1953, and in the process earning numerous air service medals.

After being honorably discharged in 1955, Darrell married Marylin Dawdy in 1956 in Dallas. The couple had one son, but were later divorced. Darrell married Dora Davis in 1966 in Dallas, where the couple resided until relocating to the Blackfoot River Valley in 1978. Darrell was employed as a police officer with the Dallas Police Department from 1956 to 1977 and then as a rural mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Missoula from 1979-1995.

Darrell was preceded in death by wife Dora, parents Leo and Florence, and brother Bob. Survivors include son Randall (Kathy) of Missoula; sister Evelyn (Allen) of Seeley Lake; brother Warren (Linda) of Bonner; grandchildren Jared (Emily) of Florence and Laurel (Jordan) of Bozeman; and five great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to Dr. Margaret Eddy for her many years of wonderful care.
