Cpl Garney Adford Burleson Jr, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Asheville, NC.

Corporal Garney Adford Burleson Jr was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, CPL Burleson served our country until January 28th, 1971 in Binh Thuan, South Vietnam. He was 20 years old and was not married. It was reported that Garney died from small arms fire or grenade. His body was recovered. CPL Burleson is on panel 05W, line 066 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C.

He is my uncle. HAPPY BIRTHDAY UNCLE JAY!!!!! I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE KNOWN YOU. I am sure that you, April, Mom, Dad, Hazel, Mamaw and Poppa are having one heck of a celebration in Heaven. Amorita Wright.

He is the Son of Mr Garney Adford Burleson Sr and Mrs Prutenia Moore Burleson. He attended A.C. Reynolds High School.

He served with Bravo Troop, 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division(AMBL), USARV.

He was awarded The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal.
