Asheville – Floyd Lee Angel, 74, passed away Thursday, June 30 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals.

A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mr. Angel worked in the construction field most of his life. He was an avid rock and gem hunter, and will always be remembered as a loving father and Papaw.

Mr. Angel was the son of the late Charlie and Tilda Waycaster Angel, and the husband of the late Mary Rose Angel. He was also preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

Surviving are his companion of 11 years, Penny Brooks; children: Steven Angel and wife Greta, and Tina Montiel and partner Charlie Smith; step-daughter, Wendy Brooks; grandchildren: Christopher Angel, Tristan Angel, Saul Montiel, Jose Montiel, Montana Montiel, Seth Burleson, Diamond Burleson, Brooklyn Angel, Sebastian Angel, River Angel, and Reece Angel; step-grandchildren: Corey Hudgens and Shawn Carter; great-grandchildren: Greycen Angel, Chase Burleson and Colton Burleson; sister, Ruby Griffin; brother, Richard Angel; former special son-in-law, Pedro Montiel; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 6:00 PM Thursday at Sunrise Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.

The family would like to wish a special “Thank You” to family friend Kim Stapleton for her love and compassion.
