J. H. Stilson, Civil War veteran, Dies
James H. Stilson, 79 years old, Civil War veteran, died early Thursday morning at his home, 415 B street southeast. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Abbie Stilson; one daughter, Mrs. Cassie Sackett of Miami; one stepson, George Stogsdal [sic] of Joplin; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Nannie Simpson of Miami, Mrs. Ollie Newberry of Eldorado, Ark., Mrs. Etta Lindsey of Miami and Mrs. Harry Morgan of Miami. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Anna Foster of Parsons, Kas., and one brother, William Stilson of Miami.
The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at the Pentecostal church, with the Rev. John Lynn officiating. Burial was in G. A. R. cemetery under direction of the Cooper Undertaking company.
