Virginia Jean Wedenoja, age 88, of Renton died at Harborview Medical Center on Friday, May 25 as a result of a head injury. ''Ginny,'' as she was fondly known, was a warm, friendly and outgoing person with a positive outlook who made friends easily and had a happy life. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her main interests were family, friends, walking and gardening. Virginia was born October 19, 1923 to Robert McKechnie and Alvilda Wesley in Tacoma and graduated from Lincoln High in Tacoma in June, 1942. She served as Seaman First Class in the WAVES from 1944 to 1946, receiving basic training in New York, and was stationed in Washington, D.C., where she met her future husband, Lieutenant Wilbert John Wedenoja of the U.S. Army, from Wakefield MI. They were married the 28th of June 1947 in Tacoma. The new couple moved to Ann Arbor MI, where ''Bill'' finished a bachelor's degree in civil engineering at the University of Michigan. During this time Virginia was a Girl Scout leader in Alabama and taught Sunday school and ran a Lutheran thrift shop in New Orleans. In Seattle she was a long-standing member of the Seward Park Walkers. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Wesley, Robert, Herbert, Richard, Alfred, and Edward McKechnie.
