MRS. A. GUENTHER, ONCE OF SHEBOYGAN DIES IN NEBRASKA
Mrs. Louise Guenther passed away last Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Phalen Shirley in Omaha, Neb. The deceased was the widow of a former resident of Sheboygan, Alexander Guenther, who went to Nebraska many years ago, and who died suddenly several years ago while spending a summer season at Elkhart Lake. Mr. Guenther was born in Germany, but his wife was a native of Sheboygan, a daughter of Dr. Frederick Hahn, one of our pioneer physicians, whose numerous family is by death now reduce to the elder son, Adolph Hahn of Denver, Colo.
After her husband's death Mrs. Guenther made her home with the family of her elder daughter, Mrs. DeRoy Austin in Berkeley, Cal., who had passed away several years ago, leaving her husband and three sons below the adult age, and her mother, Mrs. Guenther, to assume the cares of the household and the charge of the motherless children, the voluntarily duties of which she performed faithfully and lovingly.
Shortly before her death Mrs. Guenther had suffered a stroke of apoplexy, when her daughter Mrs. Shirley, hastened from Omaha to the mother's bedside in Berkeley, Cal., from where the daughter returned with her to Omaha only several days previous to her demise. A son, Herman Guenther, of Omaha, also survives.
Mrs. Guenther's old-time Sheboygan friends will be grieved to hear of her passing on. They will recall her fine traits of character, the charm of her personality and her devotion to her family. She was born in Sheboygan seventy-four years ago. The burial ensued last Tuesday in Omaha's beautiful Forest Lawn cemetery.
