Sally Lewis Eaton Law, 92, of Cortland, passed away Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, at Gillette Nursing Home, just a couple weeks after being diagnosed with congestive heart failure.

Sally was 92 years “young” when she passed, as her energy and vitality in life proved.

She was born on May 25, 1924, in Warren, Ohio, in her parents’ home.

“Terrific! Terrific! Terrific!” That is what she would say to all who knew and loved her because of what the Apostle Paul teaches in his Philippians epistle, “…my desire is to go off and be with the Messiah (Yeshyua), that is better by far.” (Phil. 1:23).

She was employed by the Champion School District for 35 years as a kindergarten teacher. Sally enjoyed teaching so much that through the years she also taught remedial reading and public speaking. Just until recently, she was tutoring elementary students in how to improve their reading skills at her home in Cortland, free of charge.

She so enjoyed being a blessing to many people at restaurants, stores and doctors’ offices. They can testify of being entertained by her “Smile Stories” throughout the years.

Sally Eaton Law was preceded in death by her parents, Verne and Elsie Weigle Lewis.

She is survived by her four sons, Verne James Eaton of Tempe, Ariz., Carl Everett Eaton of Cortland; Terry Lewis Eaton of Margate, Fla., and Wayne Alan Eaton of Jacksonville, Fla. She also leaves nine grandchildren, Seron Eaton of Chandler, Ariz., Michael Eaton of Cortland, Justin Eaton of Columbus, Jerimy Eaton of Boca Rotan, Fla., Sherity Eaton of Warren, Sharminy Nardi of Coral Springs, Fla., Terry Eaton, Jr. of Tamarac, Fla., Jasmine Colucci of Orange Park, Fla., and Jacob Eaton of Jacksonville, Fla. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.

Private interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Cortland.
