James A. Noffke, age 72, a resident of Manitowoc County, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center.

Jim was born on July 28, 1944 in Shawano to the late Gustave and Eleanore Hansen Noffke. He graduated from Gillett High School with the class of 1962. Jim obtained his Associates Degree in Business Administration and joined Manitowoc Savings Bank in 1964, starting his successful 40+ years in banking. In 1984 he received a CEBS from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Jim retired as Senior Vice President Regional Trust Manager of the Associated Trust Company. On April 22, 1967, Jim married JoAnn Marquardt at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. He enlisted in the United States Army Reserve unit 377th and served his country in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. Jim was first and foremost a beloved husband and father. He enjoyed spending his time golfing, fishing, gardening, woodworking, and when he retired, he took on baking. Jim had served on the Board of Directors for Shady Lane Nursing Care Center since 2008, was a member of the Manitowoc Noon Kiwanis, served on the Girl Scouts of Manitou financial committee, and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where he faithfully served in many roles.

Survivors include Jim's wife of 49 years: JoAnn; two sons: Jeffrey Noffke, Kalama, WA; and Michael Noffke, Madison; mother-in-law: Lillian Marquardt; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law to include: Lori (Tom) Provost, Karen (Rick) Larson, Susan (Mark) Nestegard, Roger (Peggy) Marquardt, and Ellen Marquardt; 14 nieces and nephews, many grand nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents: Gustave and Eleanore Noffke; two brothers: LeRoy and Robert Noffke, father-in-law: Walter Marquardt; and brother-in-law: Roy Marquardt.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1712 Menasha Avenue, Manitowoc. Rev. Zachary DeArmond will officiate with burial to take place at Evergreen Cemetery. Following the funeral service, military rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Otto-Oas Post 659 at the church. The family will greet relatives and friends at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials in Jim's name to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Manitowoc.

Jim's family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staffs of St. Vincent Hospital of Green Bay, Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, and Sharon Richardson Community Hospice for all the care and compassion they provided. JoAnn would like to thank all of her family and friends for the love and support given.

Perhaps Jim's greatest role was that he was a loving husband and father. He will be greatly missed.
