Father Charles Burque arrived in Dover, New Hampshire in June, 1939. When the new church was built, an old house next door served as the rectory and Father Burque saw the need to build a new rectory in its place. The present structure was completed in 1941, and was built to house three priests and two live-in housekeepers. It was also during this period that the parish began acquiring property next to the rectory to enlarge the parking lot. In 1953, Father Burque was elevated to the rank of Monsignor and his Golden Jubilee was celebrated on May 18, 1958. He was buried next to his brother, Father Albert Burque in the priests' plot.
