Joan J. Ackley age 86, of Michigan City, IN passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Hospice Franciscan Communities of Michigan City.
She was born on May 7, 1930 in Michigan City, IN to George and Veronica (Walotka) Neulieb who preceded her in death. On April 29, 1961, she was married in Michigan City, IN to Mark Ackley who preceded her in death.
Joan is survived by her brother: Harold Neulieb of Michigan City, IN. She was also preceded in death by her twin sister: Delores McKay in 2013.
Joan was a lifelong resident of Michigan City, working for both Jaymar Ruby and Portis Hat Company. She was an active member of the Michigan City Christian Church, singing in the choir, participating in Footprints Widows Group, S.A.M Ministries, greeter, and also served as a Sunday school secretary for many years. Joan loved nature and enjoyed gardening and flowers. Joan was a very loving and kind person with a good sense of humor. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Visitation for family and friends will take place on Friday, December 23, 2016 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Michigan City Christian Church located at 11232 Earl Road, Michigan City, IN 46360.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Michigan City Christian Church with Pastor Kim Alan Cole officiating, burial will take place at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City, IN.
