Hazel was born the daughter of John and Isabella (Clark) Stansfield. Hazel passed on at the home of her caregiver, Taren Bates, on Bray Hill Road in Phillips.

She attended Wilton schools, and earned her postgraduate diploma from Wilton Academy. While at the Academy, she enjoyed playing basketball. She attended a business college briefly and was later employed at the Wilton Trust Co.

On June 7, 1937, she married Richard A. Dummer of Weld in Strong. He predeceased her on Feb. 9, 1991.

Together with his brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Edith Dummer, they operated Dummer's Beach Campground on Webb Lake in Weld. Following their retirement, she and her husband sold their portion of the family business to their niece, Elizabeth (Dummer) Shreve and her husband, Lloyd.

She was a member of the Weld Historical Society, the Weld Congregational Church and was a founding member of the Wilson Lake Country Club, Wilton. She was an avid card player and enjoyed playing contract bridge.

She is survived by a niece and nephew, Jane Mosher and her husband, Charles, of Gorham and John "Jack" Stansfield and his wife, Harriet, of Wilton, with whom she had resided for many years; nephews by marriage, Richard C. Dummer, and his wife, Geraldine, of Warwick, R.I. and Robert Dummer of Barrington, R.I.; a niece by marriage, Elizabeth Shreve, and her husband, Lloyd, of Barrington, RI; grandnieces and nephews, Daniel Stansfield and his wife, Peggy, of Berwick, Sheldon Stansfield and Sheila Stansfield, both of Atlanta, Ga., John Mosher and his wife, Liz, of Bath, Leigh Ivers and her husband, John, of Auburn, Faye Connolly and her husband, Patrick, of Windham, Richard Mosher of Milton, Mass., Leslie Thibault and her husband, Tom, of Saco, Kristin Dummer Foley of Warwick, R.I. and Glen Dummer of Pawtucket, R.I., and several great-grand nieces and nephews.
