Springfield Twp. -- Gilbert D. Berringer, 67, passed away Feb. 12, 1997. Born in Cherry Tree, Pa.

Mr. Berringer was a bricklayer in the Akron area for the past 45 years. He was a representative for Excel, a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, and a U.S. Navy veteran.

Preceded in death by parents, Nellie and Clarence, and brother, Dick.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy A.; sons, Gilbert L., Paul J. (Delores), John D., and Mark T.; daughters, Ruth A., Mary A. (Don) Moore, Nancy I. (James) Midcap, Rita M. (Chuck) Miller, and Judy M. (Edward) Beidle; nine grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Donna) and Jack (June); sisters, Gaye Goodlin, Betty (Tom) Davis, Carlene (Earl) Berringer, and Hulda Somerville; sister-in-law, Jo Berringer; many other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, 10:15 a.m., at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2603 Benton St. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd., Akron, from 5 to 8 TONIGHT, where a wake service will be conducted at 5 p.m. (Hopkins Lawver, Akron, 733-6271.)
