Gerald C. "Ju-Ju" Maida, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, in the Excela Health-Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Maida was born July 16, 1927, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of the late Emanuel and Francesca Cutaia Maida.
He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. Gerry was the owner of Maida Flooring for many years. He was a member of the Assunta Club, where he enjoyed going every Thursday for most of his life.
Gerry is survived by his loving family, his children, Gerald E. Maida, of State College, Karen S. Maida and Jonathan P. Maida and his wife, Misty, all of Mt. Pleasant; and by his grandson, Ronald J. Hause Jr., Ph.D., of Seattle, Wash. He is also survived by his brothers, Dr. Frank V. Maida and his wife, Phyllis, of Raleigh, N.C., Alfonso M. Maida, of Mt. Pleasant, and Peter P. Maida, of Kecksburg. In addition to his parents, Gerry was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Dawn Zaronsky Maida, in August, 2014; by his daughter, Kristie Maida Hause, in 2004; and by his brother and sisters, Joseph Maida and Elizabeth Burns and Angeline Koontz.
As per the wishes of the family, there will be no hours of public visitation. Private viewing and services will be held for his family with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko officiating. Private Inurnment will be in St. Pius X Parish Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the GALONE-CARUSO FUNERAL HOME, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant.
