Son of Thomas Franklin Rodden of North Carolina and Mary C Morris of Tennessee. Grandson of Spencer Harry Rodden and Elizabeth Hill, James C Morris and Sarah Bishop.

George was the husband of Susan Charlotte DeSpain, the daughter of Peter DeSpain and Charlotte Pratt. They were married Sept or Nov 1869 in Sebastian County, Arkansas and had five children:
* Joseph Cornelius Rodden
* Mary Ann Rodden, Mrs James Claypool
* Daniel Franklin Rodden
* Thomas Montaville Rodden
* John Rodden
* Lou Ellen Rodden, Mrs John William Davis
* Sara Tennessee Rodden, Mrs William Evans

Susan died in 1897, and George remarried, becoming the fourth husband of Mary Elizabeth Conyers Nye Brewer Burns. They were married 24 June 1900 and had one daughter, Georgia Elizabeth Rodden, Mrs Marshall Adron Hearn.


Mr. Rodden was 50 years old and already a widower by the 1900 census. His parents were born in Tennessee. He was a coal miner and could read and write. Those living with him at the time of the census was:
1. Neley J. Rodden, born April 1878 in Arkansas.
2. Thomas M. Rodden, born November 1880 and was a coal miner like his father.
3. Luella Rodden, born July 1883 in Arkansas.
4. Tennessee Rodden, born March 1886 in Arkansas.
