Tom lived at 618 Vernon Ave. Glencoe Illinois for over 35 years & also owned a cottage built by his grandfather, John Austgen, in Presque Isle Wisconsin on the shores of Annabelle Lake.
Tom graduated from the University of Missouri & was an accomplished writer, editor and producer. He worked as Creative Director for Foote, Cone and Belding,as well as J. Walter Thompson before starting his own business, Tom Barrett Productions.
He had so many highlights in His career it is hard to pick just one! He wrote, directed & produced a movie with Chicago Bears Coach Mike Ditka after the great Chicago Bears 1985 season called, "Are You Satisfied?" He was summer editor in the 1960's of the Vilas County Newspaper in Wisconsin called the Lakeland Times.
He loved to fish for muskie with his sons, brothers, & friends.
He is survived by his two sons, David (Wisc) & Peter( Fla); granddaughter Annabelle; his brother Rev.John Marshall Barrett(NYC); his sister Cindy(Nick)Proctor(New Haven Ct.)nieces & many friends.
He was predeceased by his mother, Lucille Austgen Barrett, father Marshall Elmer Barrett, and his brother Donald Spencer Barrett. Special thanks to Nellie Hermann, Tom's legal guardian. Celebration was open to the public at the family cottage on Annabelle Lake in Presque Isle, Wisconsin. June 19th, 2016 at noon.
