Jay Hairston, 90, of Martinsville, died July 8, 2001, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville. He was born Aug. 29, 1910, in Stuart, son of John Hairston and Willie Tatum Hairston.
He retired from the Lester Co. where he worked for 35 years. He was a member at Charity Christian Church.
His only survivor is his wife, Mattie Stockton Hairston.
Burial will be in Carver Memorial Gardens.
