Erwin L. Blumenschein, 79, of Marysville died Saturday, May 1, 1999, in the company of his children at his home following a long illness with cancer.

He was retired after 25 years in the receiving department at Scotts and had formerly worked at Columbus Bolt & Forge for 17 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed dogs, euchre and dart ball at St. John's and especially enjoyed visiting his family and friends.

He was born in Darby Township near Plain City, the ninth of 10 children to the late Peter and Anna Nicol Blumenschein and was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Blumenschein; and five sisters, Nora Nicol, Emma Rausch, Amelia Guebert, Martha Rausch and Matilda Kleiber. He married Diana Neer Feb. 7, 1948, and she died May 2, 1995.

He is survived by a son; a daughter; a grandson; a brother, Edward Blumenschein of Marysville; two sisters; a sister-in-law; a brother-in-law, many nieces and nephews.
