Archie Elmer Powers age 80, of Lansing, died on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mr. Powers was born on October 17, 1936 in Ashe County to Raymond B. and Ruth Howell Powers. Mr. Powers served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and later in the Army National Guard. In his earlier years he liked to repair old clocks and was known to be an expert marksman. He enjoyed spending time with his dogs, Pug and Snoopy. Mr. Powers was known as a accomplished fiddle maker and enjoyed Bluegrass Music.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 11:00 am at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Brother Ed Hall. Burial will follow in Powers Family Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Badger Funeral Home.

Mr. Powers is survived by: two daughters, Geneva Johnson of Lansing, Tina Powers of Pulear, two sons, Carl Powers of Lansing, Coy Powers of Hickory, two brothers, Bill Powers, Allen Powers both of Lansing, five sisters, Mary Blevins of Lansing, Annie Ham of Kannapolis, Mable Turner of Warrensville, Carol Ellis of Crumpler and Joann Segraves of Jefferson, also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
