Death of Maj. Clarkson
Maj. E.T. Clarkson, one of the oldest and highly respected citizens of Covington died at his residence yesterday morning at 6-1/2 o'clock. He had been dangerously ill for some time, and his death was not unexpected. Maj. Clarkson was a man of marked features of character, fearless and outspoken in his sentiment, and generous heart, his loss will be sincerely felt by a large circle of relatives and acquaintances. He was in his sixty-fifth year of his age, and was born in Virginia. The funeral will take place Sunday morning.

E.T. Clarkson, Esq., is a candidate to represent the counties of Kenton and Campbell in the State Senate. He resides in the upper part of this county. -- We are not personally acquainted with him, but understand that he is a gentleman of fair talents and has the confidence of his neighbors. Esq. Clarkson is a democrat, but seems to think a man has the right to offer for office, the dictum of a party caucus to the contrary, notwithstanding.
