Funeral will be at 12:30 pm Wednesday at Collier-Butler Chapel for James LaFayette Bankston, 68, who died Sunday, Nov 6, 1988. The Revs Bill Ellen and Chalmer Wilborn will officiate. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge.

Mr Bankston was a native of Jackson County and a resident of Etowah County most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of VFW Post #2760. He retired from the Decorator Store in 1980.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs Ruth Steward Bankston; two daughters, Mrs Jean Money, Tullahoma, Tenn; Mrs Elizabeth Burgess, New Orleans, La; three sons, Jimmy, William and Stephen Bankston, all of Gadsden; six grandchildren, Jeromy and Andrew Money, Brian, Dawn, April and Chad Bankston; three sisters, Mrs Octavia Campbell, Scottsboro; Mrs Verma Clo Sewell, Huntsville; Mrs Ernestine Cummins, Jacsonville; son-in-law, Alex Omey, Tullahoma; daughter-in-law, Mrs Ann Bankston, Gadsden, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be W E Smith, Farris Steward, Roy Glenn, Ralph Balenger, Gay Mayben, Chalmer Wilborn, Cecil Yancey and Bobby Alverson.

The body will remain at the funeral home through the hour of service. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight.
