Florence Peterson passed away at the Karlstad Healthcare Center on December 26, 2016 at the age of 98 years, 9 months and 10 days. Florence Hazel Peterson was born on March 16, 1918 in Hoffman, MN to the late Otto and Marie (Perleberg) Wollin. She later moved to northern MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Karlstad High School in 1936. On July 12, 1937 she married Raymond Peterson in Halma, MN. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Raymond, and 3 children (Gail, Beverly and Mary); also 5 brothers (George, Clarence, Lawrence, Harley, and Willis) and 5 sisters (Mabel, Elmira, Carmen, Lorrayne, and Mandeline). Florence is survived by her son Neil (Linda) Peterson of Golden Valley, MN and her daughter Barbara Kammen of Inver Grove Heights, MN; her brother Bob (Betty) Wollin; sisters-in-law Marjorie Wollin and Donna Peterson; 6 grandchildren, Jason (Karen) Peterson, Kelly Peterson (Nate Amdall), Alison (Scott) Suko, Bruce Kammen, Lisa Kammen, Lynn (Rob) Illetschko and 8 great grandchildren, Hanna, Olivia & Gavin Peterson, Kittson Amdall, Taylor Suko, Drew, Adam & Alex Illetschko. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Florence will be remembered as a great cook. Who could ever forget her apple pies, cinnamon rolls, and donuts!! She was also an avid garage sale shopper, loved reading, and was a prolific letter writer. She worked as a cook and server in several cafes and restaurants. She also was employed in an elementary school and was especially pleased when she was asked to share stories of her youth with these young students. She loved to watch old reruns of The Beverly Hillbillies, Matlock and The Rockford Files. She lived in Inver Grove Heights, MN from August 2007 until she moved into the Karlstad Healthcare Center in April 2012. She loved music and throughout her life was devoted to her faith.

Memorial service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Helgeland officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the church one hour preceding the service. A luncheon served by the First Lutheran Church Women (WELCA) will follow the service.
