Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 30, 1998, at St. John
Ev. Lutheran church, Newtonburg. Rev. Victor Headrick will officiate, with
burial at St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
Wilbert was born August 13, 1908, in the town of Newton, son of the late William
and Martha Wahlers Busse. He grew up in the town of Newton and attended St. John
Lutheran School. He farmed in the town of Newton his whole life. He was married
to Anita Haupt, who preceded him in death. He married Elsie E. Kappelman on
April 12, 1947, in Mishicot. They celebrated 50 years of marriage together.
Wilbert was a life-long member at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Newtonburg,
formerly served on the church council, and was a charter member of the Lake-to-Lake
Dairy Cooperative.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie; one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Julie
Busse, Manitowoc; five grandchildren, Susan (Mark) Rogne, Robert Busse, Renee
(Jeff) Menges, Michelle Busse, and Jennifer Busse; four great-grandchildren, Adam
and Jacob Rogne, and Jordan and MacKayla Menges; one sister, Evelyn Ott, St.
Nazianz; and one sister-in-law, Leona Kappelman, Two Rivers. Nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one brother,
Marvin Busse.
Relatives and friends may call at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Newtonburg, from
5-8 p.m. Thursday, and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
Memorials to Manitowoc Lutheran High School or St. John Ev. Lutheran Church would
be appreciated.
