This is a bio. sketch from "History of Manitowoc County Wisconsin"
by Dr. L. Falge, 1911-1912, v.2, p.155-156.

August Fischer, was born in Germany in 1827, and there he passed the first thirty years of his life. In 1857 he concluded to come to America to seek his fortune and crossed the Atlantic coming directly to Wisconsin, locating in Manitowoc county. Later he acquired the tract now owned by his son, and there he passed the remainder of his life. The land was covered with a dense growth of timber when he bought it but, after erecting thereon a log
cabin, that for many years served as the family residence, he set about clearing his holding and placing the land under cultivation. In 1858, he was married to Miss Charlotte Wicke, a daughter of William Wicke and a native of Germany, whence she emigrated to the United States with her people in 1854. The family of Mr. and Mrs. Fischer numbered eight.
