rs. Arno (Lucile) Hackmann, age 82, of 1722 S. Alverno Road, Manitowoc, entered
eternal life on Wednesday morning, Aug. 15, 2007, at the Aurora Medical Center,
Two Rivers.
Lucile was born on Sept. 28, 1924, at Manitowoc Rapids. She was the daughter of
the late Harvey and Anna Wicke Bremer. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School
with the class of 1942. She continued her education at the Manitowoc Business
College. On Dec. 1, 1945, she married Charles Day at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran
Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1958. She later married
Arno Hackmann on Jan. 2, 1960, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Lucille
was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and Missionary Society of
the Church, Manitowoc Senior Center, an active member of the Manitowoc Braille Club,
TOPS Organization, and homemakers clubs, where she enjoyed sharing interest in
sewing, quilting, crocheting and other home related activities.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years: Arno; three sons: Harvey (Barbara) Day,
Green Bay; Roger Day, Orange Park, Fla.; John (Lisa) Hackmann, Manitowoc; three daughters:
Marian (Sidney) Leick, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Sharon Hackmann, Manitowoc; Nancy Matznick,
Newton; one stepdaughter: Diantha Langhoff, Oak Creek; one sister: Arline (Leroy) Fischer,
Manitowoc; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; nieces,
nephews, along with other relatives and friends surviving. She was preceded in death by
her parents: Harvey and Anna Bremer; her first husband: Charles Day in 1958; one daughter:
Judith Connors in 2002; one grandson: Timothy Day in 2001.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at St. John's
Lutheran Church, 7531 English Lake Road, Newtonburg. Officiating will be Rev. Victor
Headrick, with burial to follow at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at St. John's Lutheran Church on Friday, Aug. 17, 2007,
from 5 to 8 p.m., and then on Saturday Aug. 18, 2007, from 10 a.m. until the time of
service at 11 a.m.
Memorials would be appreciate for St. John's Lutheran Church, Manitowoc Lutheran
High School, or the donor's choice.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Cremation Center, North 11th and St. Clair
streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
