He was born Feb. 14, 1933, the son of James and Mary Taylor Abshire.
He was an Army veteran, Ford Motor Co. retiree and above all was a proud member of Church of Christ.
He will be missed by a host of family, friends and loved ones.
He is survived by his wife Brenda Kay Abshire, son Phillip (Cindy) Abshire of Aurora, Colo., daughters Deborah (Tom) Salmons of Berlin Heights, Ohio and Lori (Ethan) Eadens of Minot, N.D., brothers Lawson Abshire of Phyllis, Ky., and Earl Abshire of Holgate, Ohio, sisters Ruby Ellis of Pikeville, Ky., Novella Bartley of Continental, Ohio, Patty Hunt and Rosa Lee Hensely of Phyllis, and grandchildren Jessica, Tommy, Amy, Autumn, Summer and Faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Eugene, Ireland and Burl Abshire and sister Virgie Justice.
