Alfred W. Russo, Sr., of Fort Myers, FL passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Al was a resident of Fort Myers, FL for the past 10 years. Originally from Hartford, CT and graduating from Weaver High School in 1945. Al was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Marion. Al owned and operated several restaurants through the years where he was known to have the coldest beer in the Hartford area. After retiring to Florida Al loved his work at Publix where he continued his endeavor to bring happiness and joy to all he met and encountered. Al was predeceased by his wife Gloria (Puro) Russo and two brothers Joseph and Francis Russo.
He is survived by his loving wife, Al's children, his five wonderful grandchildren who he cherished dearly, his sister and two brothers.
Al was a real people person, As all his friends knew.... To know 'AL' was to love AL...
A memorial Mass will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2002, at Saint Columbkille Catholic Church. In lieu of Flowers the family requests memorials be directed to Hope Hospice or Ronald McDonald House.
