Age 75, of Pecos, died Thursday, December 14, 2000, at his residence. Eloy was born July 3, 1925, to Augustine and Juanita Blea. Eloy served in the 8th Air Force during World War II, serving in England. At age 21, he was the youngest school superintendent in Harding County. He retired after serving 37 years as School Administrator for the Pecos School District.
Eloy was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Phillip and Marcelino; and one sister, Josie.
He is survived by his wife, Allegra M. Blea; children: Marveen Manzanares and husband Donald of Albuquerque, Patrick Blea of Pecos, Lori Verschueren and husband Ron of Jal, NM, Theresa Dalton and husband Joseph of Pecos, and Danny Blea and wife Marie of Clovis, NM; four brothers: George Blea, Alfred Blea and wife Julia, Frank Blea, and Steve Blea and wife Marie; one sister, Rose Vigil and husband Steve; grandchildren: Patrick Manzanares, Trisha Jung, Tracy Blea Stoddard and Chris, Allegra Lovato and Norman, Melissa Verschueren and Jerry, Daniel Blea and Jessica, Adruey Blea, David Verschueren and Greta, Amanda Garcia and Chris, Claudette Dalton, Daniele Blea, and Laura Blea; great-grandchildren: Justin, Alyia, Avriana, Trent and Naomi, Mariah, and Dominique; and beloved close friends, Jesse and Nancy Martinez.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 16, 5:00-7:00 p.m., at McGee Memorial Chapel; a second visitation in Pecos, Sunday, December 17, 4:00-6:00 p.m., at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated Monday, December 18, at 10:00 a.m. in Pecos at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Tilo Blea, Patrick Manzanares, Daniel Blea, David Verschueren, Norman Lovato and Jesse Martinez.
