SHAMBAUGH, Geraldine Age 83, of Xenia, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Hospitality Home. She was born February 1, 1933 in McKee, Kentucky the daughter of Charles and Ella (Baker) Hayes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 9 sisters. Geraldine is survived by her husband, Roger Shambaugh of 45 years, children: Glenn Gibson, Randy Shambaugh and Vicki Neff; 3 grandchildren: Dylan, Hayley and Rachael; a sister: Ada Jones; friends: Ann Roberts, Roberta Phillips and Teresa Rivera; special nieces: Brenda Purcell, Jetta Roark and Marlene Kingery; special nephew: Billy Hayes; as well as several other nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She also leaves behind Baby Cat. Geraldine was recently inducted into the Greene County Woman's Hall of Fame, 2016. She enjoyed playing softball, bowling and swimming. She was an avid Cincinnati Bengals, Reds and especially Pete Rose fan. She and her husband, Roger, sold Shaklee products and were instrumental in multiple fundraising events helping many local families raise money for clothing, food and medical expenses. Together, they also delivered food baskets and gifts to needy families during the holidays. She spent the last 45 years volunteering through Heart for the Homeless in Dayton, Ohio and Helping Hands. She was also very talented at training animals, especially Lica the Wonder Dog. Together they appeared on the Bob Braun show and the Paul Brown Stadium in the late 1970s, after Lica correctly predicted the NFL winner 81 out of 100 times. Her family would like to thank the staff at Hospitality Home and Dr. Richard Byers, and his wife Tammy, Greene County Council on Aging, Xenia Adult Recreation Center, Senior Helpers and VITAS Health Source for their care and support over the last several months.
