Joseph Leslie McWhoter, 84, of 2102 Prior Station Rd., Cedartown, passed away Friday, March 7, 2003. He was born Aug. 25, 1917 in Polk County and was a member of Mountain Home Baptist Church for over 50 years, being the oldest deacon also. He was a veteran, serving with the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was also a retired mechanist with Goodyear. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Jefferson and Della Leslie McWhorter, and his sister, Ruth McWhorter Carter. Survivors include: wife, Louise Haney McWhorter; daughter, Becky Duvall; brother, H. J. McWhorter, and two granddaughters. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 9 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the Litesey Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony Trawick and Rev. Dewayne New officiating. Interment followed in the Sanders Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bobby Jones, James Edge, Thomas Ingram, Mike Hooper, Jonathan Blackmon, and Bobby Wheeler. Lester C.
