"Very soon after being married, they moved to Missouri where they reared their family. According to a letter which was written by his youngest son to a distant cousin here in the early 1860's when Jim was about twelve years old, he left home to work for a man named Roberson on a 400 acre farm. When he was about twenty-eight years old, he left Tennessee and went to Missouri He was blind for eight years before his death."
