WESTFIELD - Carol L. Lake went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 5, 2017, after a long illness surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on October 20, 1953, daughter of Donna (Rideout) Carlin and Dr. Harry Carlin in Blackfoot, Idaho.
Carol attended Mars Hill schools and was a 1972 graduate of Presque Isle High School. She was married to the love of her life, Larry Lake, for 34 years. Carol worked as a sales representative for Gifford's Ice Cream for several years where she was affectionately called the "Ice Cream Lady" and enjoyed the interaction with customers throughout central and northern Maine. There were several nieces, nephews and children in Carol's life whom she adored who called her Auntie Carol. She loved spending time with family and friends and was typically the life of the party. Carol's love of nature and animals led her to many opportunities to nurture and enjoy creatures, large and small. Carol and Larry enjoyed many falls of hunting and summers of fishing in the northern Maine woods.
Carol was strong willed and had great faith; her huge, kind heart and sense of humor leaves an imprint in our memories and hearts.
Her daughter Brandi Sammons Gifford of Bristol, RI, was the light of Carol's life. In addition to her husband, Larry of Westfield; and daughter, Brandi, she is survived by stepdaughters, Andrea Pinette and husband, Michael, of Presque Isle, Angela Gaudreau and husband, Shawn, of Gorham and Kelly Dufour and husband, Peter, of Portland; sister, Sue (Carlin) McCrum and husband, Jay, of Mars Hill; sister, Donna Faye Carlin of Houston, TX; brother, Scott Carlin and wife, Rena, of Presque Isle; stepgrandchildren, several nieces and nephews, cousins and very supportive, loving friends.
Friends may call for visitation at 1 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2017, at United Baptist Church in Mars Hill, with services to follow at 2:30 p.m. The family invites friends and family to a reception in the Fellowship Hall of the church following the services. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made payable to Missions Fund, care of Dunn Funeral Home, 11 Park Street, Houlton, ME 04730. Online condolences and guest book:dunnfuneral.com.
