He was married to Mattie Cooper, who preceded him in death, in 1943. ∼Zach was born in Texas County Missouri to Nathan Martin and Nancy Jane nee Richardson (both are buried at Purcell Cemetery near Summersville, MO). He married Mattie Farrie Cooper on July 21, 1897 and to this union nine children were born: 3 died in infancy, Effie Campbell, Martha Scott, Bessie O'Donnell, George C., Delmar, and Nathan. Zach joined the Summersville Baptist Church and later the Grandin Church. His siblings included: Jasper (lived in Hartshorn) and John Lee (buried at Morrison Cemetery). Zach was a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge.
