Howard Green Pickard was born on July 13, 1880 in Tennessee, the son of Elias Green Pickard (1856-1928) and Sarah Narcissa (Woolard) Pickard (ca 1857-1936). [Although his Death Certificate has Howard's birth year as 1877, both his Social Security records and World War I Draft Registration Card have it as 1880. And, it is also noted that in the 1880 household of his parents, there were only his parents and no almost 3-year-old son Howard.]
He was married about 1902 to Hattie Katherine Swain (ca 1882- ).
A retired railroad engineer living at 3502 Wilbur Foster Drive, Nashville, he was almost 80 years old when he died of staphylococcus septicemia at Nashville's V A Hospital on April 1, 1958. Burial was two days later in Spring Hill Cemetery in Madison [city, not county].
