When he returned home, he went to WVU but then decided to go to Fla where his parents were visiting. Uncle Charles gave him a job as clerk in his hotel. Sam became a police officer in Pompano Beach, FL. After retiring from Pompano, he went to the State Attorneys office in Eustis, FL. .

Charles Samuel "Farfar" Kennedy, 82, of Liberty, loving husband of Vera Jonsson Kennedy for 59 years, died October 20, 2010.Born in Winden, WV, he was a son of the late John C. and Thelma Connely Kennedy. . Kennedy served in the U.S. Army and retired from the State Attorney General's Office after 18 years of service. He also worked for the City of Pompano Beach Florida Police Department for 25 years.Charles was a Mason and a Civitan in Leesburg, FL. He was a member of the Lion's Club in Pickens County, and the American Legion. He was predeceased by a son, Sammy Kennedy, and a daughter, Chris Kennedy.
