John L. Bynum, age 84, died Monday, December 19, 2016 at his home in Water Valley, MS. He was born June 23, 1932 in Elkhart, TX to the late J. F. and Annie Hamilton Bynum. John served in the United States Air Force then later owned and operated Artic Insulation Company. In his younger days he enjoyed drag racing, and was an avid golfer and sports fan. After John retired he enjoyed raising cattle and taking care of his pets. Two years ago he and his wife, Jean, moved from Texas to Water Valley. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Water Valley and a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Bradley, AR. A memorial service will be held in Water Valley, MS at a later date.

John is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary "Jean" Stewart Bynum of Water Valley, MS; two daughters, Kay Croom (Ed) of Oxford, MS and Jackie Daniels (Alan) of Tunnel Hill, GA; one son, Bill Bynum (Dale) of Brevard, NC; three sisters, Faye Holting of Bentonville, AR, Christine Counts of Gun Barrel City, TX, and Geraldine Smith of Athens, TX; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; and two sisters.
